The Utah Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association welcomes nominations for a unique honor choir experience conducted by Dr. André Thomas. This event will take place during the fall conference on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Viewmont High School in Bountiful, Utah. Dr. Thomas is professor emeritus at Florida State University, Associate artist with the London Symphony, and visiting conductor of the Yale Camareta. Who can Participate:

• Directors nominate one SATB quartet OR one SSAATB sextet from their program.

• Any nominated 10th-12th grade students, college/university students, and adult community choir members may participate.

• All directors must be current members of ACDA.

• If minors participate in the honor choir, the director must be registered for and attend the conference. If the director is unable to attend the conference in person, they may designate a chaperone.

Additional Information:

• Space is limited! Registration will open on May 1st, 2025. Please register early to guarantee a spot.

• If directors need time to compile the names of honor choir members but they want to ensure a spot, they may register their quartet or sextet early and enter “TBD” under singer names. Directors who do so will be provided means to update their final roster by September 1st.

• Rehearsal tracks will be provided for honor choir members and emailed to directors. Honor choir members are expected to learn their music prior to the first rehearsal.

• College/University/Community choir directors may submit recruitment materials, and ACDA Utah will distribute these materials to the honor choir members. In addition, honor choir members will have the chance to learn about opportunities to sing for life and interact with directors during breaks and lunch.

What is Needed from Directors:

• Directors nominate one SATB quartet OR one SSAATB sextet from their program.

• During registration, directors will submit

  • directors name, email, phone, shipping address (to receive printed music for your nominees), name of school/institution, and ACDA membership number and expiration date

  • full name and voice type of each singer

  • payment for your quartet or sextet
