Call for Performing Choirs

The Utah Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA-UT) welcomes submissions for interest sessions for our fall conference, which will take place on September 26-27, 2025 at Viewmont High School (120 W 1000 N, Bountiful, UT 84010). We encourage submissions from conductors and choral ensembles that address the conference theme Sing for Life. If accepted, choirs should plan on at least 15 minutes of music, and the total time may not exceed 25 minutes including stage set up, entrance, exit, and applause. Each choir is responsible for submitting their program information by July 15, 2025. ACDA-UT encourages conductors to program a variety of styles from various eras unless performing a concert by a single composer or genre. All applications must be submitted online by June 1, 2025.

As an ACDA member, I will comply with the copyright laws of the United States of America, including the illegal downloading of music from the Internet. Compliance with these laws is a condition of participation by clinicians and performing ensembles that appear on any ACDA sponsored event or Conference.

ELIGIBILITY:

Conductors must be members of ACDA by August 2025.
The director of the ensemble must have been employed in the same position for no fewer than two consecutive years.
No ensemble or director may appear at consecutive state conferences. Exception: Directors and their ensembles that appeared as an interest session demonstration choir are exempt from this rule.

RECORDINGS:

Submissions are audio recordings and should be in .mp3 format.
Submissions must feature recordings by the same conductor and the same ensemble.
Submissions should include two contrasting examples of the choir’s performances from no earlier than September 2023.
Recordings should include complete pieces. The total length of the two recordings should be no more than ten (10) minutes.

You will also be asked to provide the following information:

Conductor’s name, address, phone, email address
Name of institution/organization, address
Name of choir, approximate number of singers, voicing, age level
Willingness to participate as a choir for the composition contest winner
Conductor(s) headshot and bio(s) to appear in marketing materials and the conference program. If possible, please also include a picture of your choir.
ACDA membership number and expiration date.

TIMELINE:

June 1, 2025: Application must be submitted by 11:59 pm Mountain Time.
First week of June 2025: blind screening by evaluation committee, final selection of invited choirs.
By June 15, 2025: Results emailed to applicants.
